Description
Podcasts are useful as background material for online courses. Here are some examples of what could be podcasted: lectures, conversations with guest speaker, stories and student made podcasts demonstrating their learning. Students can easily listen to these materials wherever and whenever. It can also deliver different viewpoints to learning (customers’ point of view vs. learners’ point of view). Brings also versatility to learning. Podcasts are a great way to teach new content, something suited for passive learning. Students can listen on their own, freeing up valuable classroom time for more active learning. Going through questions, participating in group discussions, and making things with others can all be part of this. If you're learning a new language, listening to podcasts in that language can be a great way to practice your listening skills and improve your comprehension. Look for podcasts that are produced for language learners and that include transcripts or other supporting materials. Also, making podcasts (or audio files) is a great way to present one’s skills and competence in a certain area of expertise. E.g. during an internship, students can make a podcast about their progress in the workplace. Here you can find more introductions: http://bot.fi/3vi9
